Brit Insurance Designs of the Year 2009 exhibition is comprehensive look at the last year in the world of design currently showing at the Design Museum London. Housed in a relatively small space, the exhibition feels a lot like a Wardrobe to Narnia, there just so much work on show, a lot of which has been featured on FormFiftyFive over the last year. One of the highlights for me was this beautiful poster/come magazine IsNotMagazine (pictured, amongst others including, making of Radioheads beautiful House of Cards video, LittleBigPlanet, Obama’s Presidential Promotional work and various instillation at Heathrow Terminal 5 created by the talented folks at Troika.
Brit Insurance Designs of the Year exhibition is on until 14th June 2009, so plenty of time to go along and have a butchers if you’re going to be in South London in the next couple of months. If you’re able to get down there before 17th May 2009, check out the exhibition by Hussein Chalayan. There’s some beautiful (if not slightly pretentious) garments and pieces of engineering on show including this LED dress.
For anyone who won’t be able to make it the whole thing has been photographed for display on the Designs of the Year blog for all to see.

I was at the opening (free champagne and trumpets) courtesy of my good friend Mr Stewart. Really good show with a diverse range of work, well worth a look.

Interesting, especially as IsNotMagazine is no more. I guess that is what museums are good at. Showing stuff that is no more.

Loved it. Definitely Worth a visit—the museum is small but perfectly formed.
In the award section—the trike that purified water as you ride it and the canoe with aerofoils were genius. Loving the isnotmagazine + Bought me a set of jar tops as well.
