Quite liking the new site for This is Real Art full of excellent work. What do you all think about the novel navigation?

Founded in 2005 by an ever growing group of young designers and vagabonds eager to collect and share the best design work they came across, FormFiftyFive soon became an international showcase of creative work.
Although the site was doing a great job at sparking creativity, we felt it could, and should, be even bigger and better. So we spent many moons working on a brand new FormFiftyFive, still high in eye (and brain) candy, but with a brand new look and lots of new features that dig even deeper into what’s happening in the design community.
We’ve also added more interactive elements on the site so people can exchange and store ideas more easily, encouraging collaboration and making the site more than just another design blog.
So have a look round, if you see something you love or hate be sure to comment, and drop us a line if there’s a juicy bit of creative gold you’d like to see on here.
Keep it real, the FFF team.

yeah that’s an interesting method for navigating a site.

It doesn’t work on my browser… just getting a black screen after the searches. It seems a little unnecessarily complicated to me. Is a nav really something that needs to be reinvented?

Cool stuff, not convinced by the navigation, like the idea but takes a while to load and I kept getting error messages. Also I wonder if someone can clear this up for me, who did the coloured pencils coke ad?

Not a fan of the navigation at all!
Awesome portfolio but it’s almost like you need to know everything they’ve done in order to search and look for it. Could be a pain for anyone who isn’t familiar with them.
Different!

Greig, This is Real Art used to commission people to work on projects, they used to be much more art direction based (now they are art direction and design etc) so for the Coke ad, they commissioned Non Format

I think Non-Format were responsible for the illustrations and it was This is Real Art’s concept. Could be wrong though…

I think they’ve produced some great work. That Fletcher/Forbes/Gill poster that Paul Belford designed for D&AD one of my favourites!
When I first visited the site I did spend the first few seconds thinking “OK, so what do we search for…” But once you get the hang of it or simply type ‘portfolio’ then you start notice some nice details.

Interesting, really original I guess which is obviously good and it could be worse. But yes, just really fiddly. I like to be able to wizz round a portfolio. Most people dont have tie to spend ages browsing a site like this requires.

what’s the point of “the stuff you’ve already looked at” bit?!

Stone Soup have had a similar navigation for a while now. I find it bizarre to put obstacles in the way of people browsing your portfolio.
