What the FFF?

Founded in 2005 by an ever growing group of young designers and vagabonds eager to collect and share the best design work they came across, FormFiftyFive soon became an international showcase of creative work.

Although the site was doing a great job at sparking creativity, we felt it could, and should, be even bigger and better. So we spent many moons working on a brand new FormFiftyFive, still high in eye (and brain) candy, but with a brand new look and lots of new features that dig even deeper into what’s happening in the design community.

We’ve also added more interactive elements on the site so people can exchange and store ideas more easily, encouraging collaboration and making the site more than just another design blog.

So have a look round, if you see something you love or hate be sure to comment, and drop us a line if there’s a juicy bit of creative gold you’d like to see on here.

Keep it real, the FFF team.

  13. A bold statement, I mean what if something comes up and they can’t make it? It should read “I might be there” or “I’ll be there (hopefully)”

  19. The word ‘Smug’ instantly springs to mind when viewing these posters. They perfectly exhibit the smugness and self-importance that D&AD and graphic design in general is plagued by.

What is with all this Graphic Designer as celebrity nonsense? Please, let’s all just get a grip and stop painting ourselves as modern-day missionaries.

Also, I went to New Blood and it was a complete waste of time to be honest. I’m sure for a small number of people it’s great. But essentially it’s a battery farm of graduates with a stock of complimentary drinks that lasted about a minute and a half.

I can think of several far more effective ways to get yourself noticed, some creative thinking please.

  21. When I posted this originally I did think the images were quite nicely shot… and I have to be honest I didn’t really look at them nor think about the posters properly. I still think visually the colours work really well, but the subjects do come across as rather pretentious.

And I have to agree with Martin that the New Blood exhibition was a complete waste of time in my case as well!

  39. Perhaps we should all get photos like these ready for everyday use. Picture the scene… you receive an email from a friend asking if you’d like to go and see the new Star Trek film tomorrow night.

The reply contains only an attached photo of yourself pondering how important it is to all of your friends that you (their leader) show up at the cinema, and you underline this point by placing the words “I’ll be there.” reassuringly in the bottom left corner of the portrait.

  41. Some of the comments are brilliant.

I have to say I hated New Blood. Just not for me.

I think D&AD do a pretty good job generally, and most of their posters are pretty tasty. But I don\’t even know who half these people photographed are.

    Good idea Martin B.
