I went to the show last week, and was mighty confused by what's being taught in the art schools at the moment. There seems to be a huge emphasis on 'image creation' and very little push towards professional application. The images created were lovely, in many instances, and sometimes truly beautiful, but I would have thought that - at a time of increasing unemployment where being a new graduate is not going to be easy - the college's should have been ensuring that the work their students produce will demonstrate their understanding of communication design. So the message to those graduates? Prove me wrong!
