Let's not forget that packaging is not just about appearance. There's a functional aspect. And this packaging FAILS on just about every point. They boast that their cereals are sealed in a "Nitrogen" atmosphere but then sloppily heat seal the inner plastic package so that it must be physically torn apart to be opened. The plastic tears along random edges leaving cereal to fall out into the surrounding box, which wouldn't be too terrible a problem with most cereals, but IS a huge problem when your cereal box has cutouts everywhere. Not only is your cereal guaranteed to go stale as quickly as they got Nitrogen into the package in the first place, but sooner rather than later will you find your cereal pieces dropping all over your cabinet, floor, etc. So great appearance, no doubt. But an absolute failure as far as the primary reason we have packaging: to protect and preserve a product. This packaging cannot do either.

If you look by the bar code you can see that Bigfish are credited for the work, same with the Gu packaging. Would be great if we all got credited on are works.
Lucky buggers.

Emanuel, you're right. I was seduced by the Dorset cereal packaging in the supermarket once as well, won't make that mistake again — it's horrible!

You read my mind! Every time i find myself in the cereals corridor of the supermarket, I know that i will stop and have a look at that great packaging, which basically is pretty simple but so geometrical and clean. I particularly like the generous use of font and the back side with the nutrition table and product info.

Do you think though that us designers are 'cursed' to prefer well designed products? I mean, i bought a bottle of shampoo and conditioner because I liked the layout of the label! Shouldn't we be more concerned about the quality / ingredients / usage of a product rather than the way it looks ?
