What the FFF?

Founded in 2005 by an ever growing group of young designers and vagabonds eager to collect and share the best design work they came across, FormFiftyFive soon became an international showcase of creative work.

Although the site was doing a great job at sparking creativity, we felt it could, and should, be even bigger and better. So we spent many moons working on a brand new FormFiftyFive, still high in eye (and brain) candy, but with a brand new look and lots of new features that dig even deeper into what’s happening in the design community.

We’ve also added more interactive elements on the site so people can exchange and store ideas more easily, encouraging collaboration and making the site more than just another design blog.

So have a look round, if you see something you love or hate be sure to comment, and drop us a line if there’s a juicy bit of creative gold you’d like to see on here.

Keep it real, the FFF team.

podcast

I’ve recently started going through the archives of Design Matters and it got me thinking – what is everyone else our there listening to?  I’ve long been a fan of TED and Typeradio and more recently Its Nice That & The School of Visual Arts MFA. Is there a list somewhere of good quality design related podcasts? Any suggestions?

  1. I am addicted to podcasts – they make my journey into work bearable. Having said this, I pretty much only listen to film & music podcasts – I did try the Design Week one once but it was pretty bad. My current listening choices are:

    Filmspotting
    Adam & Joe
    Creative Screenwriting Podcast
    The Word Podcast
    The /Filmcast
    Kermode Film Reviews

  3. Read between the leading can be good for a few resources. They recently had an interesting discussion on the developments of type on the web.

  5. There is a good interview of Mark Farrow by Mike Dempsey for RDInsight, a talk between Michael C. Place of Build & Adrian Shaughnessy, as well as Adrian’s GraphicDesignOnTheRadio here;

  7. The only podcasts that have some design related theme is The Do Lectures Podcasts.

Not all of them are design related though.

    Geoff Mcfetridge though – sweet.

  13. It’s not really a PodCast but Mr Shaughnessy’s Graphic Design on the Radio was a really interesting platform – shame he’s not done one for a while though.

  15. What about the FFF podcast (iTunes link) Luke?

Have to say Graphic Design on the Radio is one of my favourites.

    Other I subscribe to are…

    D&AD Presidents Lectures
    Gestalten TV
    Iconwerk TV
    Monocle (Design)
    Read between the Leading

    (All iTunes links)

  19. Read Between The Leading by Savannah College of Art & Design students Aaron Heth and Matt McInerney is pretty good.

Radiolab is great too! It’s not design related, but a very great science podcast.

  25. Certainly could do that Ryan! I’ll just run outside find the end of the ever growing list of things we’re going to make happen on FFF 2.1 and write that down ;)
