What the FFF?

Founded in 2005 by an ever growing group of young designers and vagabonds eager to collect and share the best design work they came across, FormFiftyFive soon became an international showcase of creative work.

Although the site was doing a great job at sparking creativity, we felt it could, and should, be even bigger and better. So we spent many moons working on a brand new FormFiftyFive, still high in eye (and brain) candy, but with a brand new look and lots of new features that dig even deeper into what’s happening in the design community.

We’ve also added more interactive elements on the site so people can exchange and store ideas more easily, encouraging collaboration and making the site more than just another design blog.

So have a look round, if you see something you love or hate be sure to comment, and drop us a line if there’s a juicy bit of creative gold you’d like to see on here.

Keep it real, the FFF team.

Inspiration / GF Smith 111 Exhibition

gfs111

We paid a visit last night to the second stop on GF Smith’s 111yr Exhibition tour. On display was a selection of paper sample books from each decade of the companies history, with the 60’s generally considered the winner and the 90’s picking up the official FFF wooden spoon.

On display was work from designers such as Paul Rand, Saul Bass, Milton Glaser, Bill McKay and SEA Design. Although it was the progression and history of the company – which rep Paul Scharf done an excellent job of telling – over any one piece of work which made the project interesting for us.

The tour is due to continue at Universities throughout the UK over the next few months, could do worse than pay a visit.

  1. Agreed Jack, good exhibition with some fantastic samples dating right back to the first types of printing. Really nice progression of styles and methods and the story of GF Smith was very well told by Mr Scharf. Nice free poster too and WITH tubes! (Other exhibitions/talks take note)

  9. B’ham not currently on the list, it’s in Leicester later this week, hopefully London at some point and also over to N.Ireland so I’m told.

Went and saw this last night in Nottingham – loving some of the 70’s and 80’s pieces, the 60’s was certainly lovely and the 90’s best to be skipped over…
