Front end developer
Do you want to be a big part of a small team? SpareRoom is looking for an experienced front-end developer who is as confident with prototypal inheritance as they are with descendant selectors. You will need to be able to fix, enhance and adapt our busy website, while keeping up-to-date with the latest Internet innovations.
The ideal candidate must be able to demonstrate excellent knowledge of:
- JavaScript
- jQuery
- Software testing (ideally QUnit)
- (X)HTML 4 & 5
- CSS 2 & 3
- W3C web standard
- Cross-browser testing
Experience with any of the following is desirable:
- Fireworks & Photoshop
- Version control systems (ideally Subversion)
- Linux & the Linux command line
- Perl
- Apache
- MySQL
We are looking for someone who is passionate about improving legacy code and creating beautiful new code. Your ideas and work will have a direct impact on the hundreds of thousands of people that use the site every week, so you’ll need to combine technical skills with an eye for detail.
