We’re constantly on the look out for new features that dig even deeper into what’s happening in the design community, so get in touch if there’s something you’ld like to see on here.

Have a look round, if you see something you love or hate be sure to comment, and drop us a line if there’s a juicy bit of creative gold you’d like to see on here.

Keep it real, the FFF team.

Danny Cooke shoots David A. Smith

Stunning film – The Making of John Mayer’s ‘Born & Raised’ Artwork – shot by Danny Cooke.

David A. Smith is a traditional sign-writer/designer specialising in high-quality ornamental hand-crafted reverse glass signs and decorative silvered and gilded mirrors. David recently produced a wonderful turn-of-the-century, trade-card styled album cover for singer/songwriter John Mayer. (We featured him in the London issue of Boat Magazine)

This film captures the behind the scenes creation of the ‘Born & Raised’ and ‘Queen of California’ artwork, as well as 2 unique reverse glass panels, hand-crafted in England by David A. Smith.

  1. Amazing to see the amount of effort, skill and more importantly patience it takes to make these signs!

  7. Phenomenal work! David has a staggering level of talent. Found the video incredibly interesting and beautifully shot. Realised his studio is a short walk from my parents house, think I might try and arrange a visit next time I’m home!

  11. Workshop visit arranged for August! I’ll have to be careful while I’m there in case he has a ‘You break it you pay for it policy’ as he told me his glass signs start at £800! Looking forward to meeting him and learning more about his work.
