Lovely Lizzy from Sparks has been in touch to let us know about this piece, a new box set of three album releases for the artist Duke Special.

It coincided with his recent performance in the Brecht play Mother Courage at the National Theatre in London. The album artwork was screen printed on grey board held with traditional book binding tape. The slipcase was silver foiled on a textured card. The product is simple and economic to produce but provides an evocative uncompromising result. The box set is now on its third production run bringing the total to just over 25,000 units, which continues to confirm our suspicion that well conceived design continues to make physical albums desirable to music lovers everywhere.

Beautiful (mostly) stop-motion video by Alan Poon for the Bowerbirds song “In Our Talons” from their 2007 album Hymns for a Dark Horse. Shot on Canon 40D with Dragon Stopmotion software, this is a brilliantly made piece. Spotted on +KN

Woo Love, our man at Open Agency has been in touch to let us know about a photo essay project showing the changing face of East London retailers (and London in general) with the coming presence of the Olympics. They’ve challenged themselves to find 2012 pictures of the word Olympic as they pop up around the East end with local retailers changing their company names to try and cash in on the action. Pleased to see they’ve opted for tumblr, if you’re on there get following!

Still to come is a contribution to Patrick Fry’s three next No.Zines. and an exhibition with Jonathan Cherry exploring the ‘local’ in rural Britain. Great to see some old school pencil skills alive and kicking!

Brian Ewing has long been one of my favourite poster artists, brilliantly he’s also a super nice guy. He’s been in touch to update me on all things Ewing – including an Original Art sale on his site, an interesting collaboration with Crankbunny, branding for 2010 Country Throwdown, a full page illustration in the New Yorker that will be out Feb 15th and a poster for Faith No More (in collaboration with a well-known toy designer).
