Munro House in Leeds, England, are commissioning a rather exciting new public art project. They’re looking for applicants to create something on the exterior of this 1930s warehouse turned creative hub – the building gets great public exposure (being on all of the main transport links) so whatever goes on there will be seen by a lot of people.

“We want you to create something that grabs passersby, car drivers and train passengers by the short and curlies, generates some chat, enlivens the surroundings and makes the residents proud.  We want to put Munro House on the map and we believe the talent is out there to do it.”

There’s an initial budget of £10k and the deadline for responses is 3rd March, so get your skates on if you fancy entering. There are no restrictions (geographical or otherwise) on who can enter. I’m on the judging panel representing FFF and am pretty darn excited to see what people put forward.

Gaetan is a graphic designer and illustrator originally from France, but currently living and working in London, after doing a 5 year stint in Dublin. His worked is a mixture of clean illustrative lines and watercolours/inks.

I just discovered the work of Brooklyn-based artist Benjamin Edmiston. He works in a variety of different media: collage, painting, lithography and silkscreening. I love his flat and decorative style. He describes his work as “bold, and often symmetrical, drawings offer a plane of floating heads, half-skinned snakes, and bodiless arms.” I really love his series of disembodied floating heads. Here are just a few.

Lilli Carré is a Chicago-based artist who works in illustration, animation and comics. I came across her work many years ago after reading her comic book The Lagoon – which I wholeheartedly recommend! I particularly like these book covers she did recently for The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn published by Penguin Classics and Very Good, Jeeves! for W.W. Norton & Co. Be sure to stop be her site to check out her portfolio, and buy some of her fantastic books!  Besides The Lagoon, I would recommend her comic Nine Ways to Disappear.

The man I never thought would get his website online has finally launched today. There are many a designer who try and learn the craft of minimal graphic illustration but none I would consider even close to this man. Those who know him have seen the monolithic amount of work he has produced which isn’t available to see on the internet. Rob Bailey is certainly someone to be celebrated as some what of a master of this art.

The brilliant ATSIS project has released a new collaboration, this time with Welsh outfitters – Howies. You can purchase ‘Do What You Love’ by Andy J Miller as either a print or tee. It follows their collaboration with Tiny Showcase website to sell the poster designed by Always With Honor.
