20 places are available for each week: 5–9 and 12–16 July 2010.

For any of our Nottingham-based visitors, The final year NTU Graphic Design students are creating a one off event ‘Screen Fiends’. They have organised an evening of live screen printing and illustration showcasing talented student’s work along with DJs and plenty of drinks.

The evening is hosted by the students and takes place from 8pm until midnight on the 5th March at the Art Organisation, Station Street, Nottingham. All the prints, illustrations and other bits and bobs on sale are 100% designed by us to help fundraise for our end of year show.

It is a bring-your-own party so guests are invited to pick up a few plain T-shirts down Primark way and leave with a limited edition graphic T!
Please help us spread the word about this exciting event which promises to showcase some fantastic work.

Anthony Burrill is speak at Long Lunch’s next event in my old haunting ground of Edinburgh College of Art. The talk is taking place in the main lecture theatre at Edinburgh College of Art, on Tuesday 9th February 2010 and tickets cost £8 / £6 concessions. As always Long Lunch through collaborations with the speaker, printer and paper partners have done a great job of producing a stunning poster which you can pick up for free on the night.

Tickets are available through Long Lunch, doors at 7.00pm and the talk starts at around 7.30pm. It should be an interesting talk from a designer has become hot stuff over the last couple of years.

Another month, another Long Lunch talk for our London readers. The next talk at Westbourne studios is taking place next Tuesday (2nd February 2010) with speaker Tom Muller of Hello Muller and Kleber fame taking centre stage. To promote the event this shocking orange fluro ink 811 post has been printed which is apparently so bright you can see it from space. If you fancy getting your hands on a copy as well as seeing Tom speak about design, Sci-Fi, comics, logos and much more do the right thing and buy a ticket for next weeks talk.

Here’s another Central Station flavoured update which will be of particular interest to those of you who reside in or around the Tayside area. (Good old Dundee—miss the place!) There are loads of events planned for the Central Station Dundee Pop-up Tour on Saturday 6 February, make your choice of events ranging from talks (Johanna Basford is a notable name amongst some other great speakers), tours, film screenings, and exhibition viewings. Sound good? Then check the Central Station events page for full listings.

In the mean time, if you are in the City of Discovery at this moment in time, keep your eyes peeled for the event posters which should be starting to appear any minute now. Designed by Dundee-based illustrator / graphic artist Superfly and featuring the work of five Dundee-based artists who will feature at the event. Feel free to take some snaps if you spot them and upload your pics to the Central Station Dundee Pop-up Group to share with the community.

We paid a visit last night to the second stop on GF Smith’s 111yr Exhibition tour. On display was a selection of paper sample books from each decade of the companies history, with the 60’s generally considered the winner and the 90’s picking up the official FFF wooden spoon.

On display was work from designers such as Paul Rand, Saul Bass, Milton Glaser, Bill McKay and SEA Design. Although it was the progression and history of the company – which rep Paul Scharf done an excellent job of telling – over any one piece of work which made the project interesting for us.

The tour is due to continue at Universities throughout the UK over the next few months, could do worse than pay a visit.
