I love this installation Christopher Bettig created for the J Crew shop at Rockefeller Plaza in New York City. The shapes and textures are amazing…wish I could do something similar in my own home. Click here for a video Christopher made about the installation.

Singapore, Spain and Argentina based interior and product design studio Outofstock have designed this rather welcoming, garden themed space for a Burger King restaurant in Singapore. I really like the small details like plant-pot lighting and camping inspired dinning tables. The kitchen chairs and casually placed posters give it a really relaxing feel. I know it’s still a Burger King, but it’s a step in the right direction.

Open Studio Club went live last Friday. It’s a website that lets creative people swap or rent studio spaces around the world. It’s a bit like couch surfing for creative studios.

So, if you’re thinking of working for a bit in Berlin or New York next year, Open Studio Club can help find a space.

We’ve got an exciting series of articles planned for you that will document what it means to launch a new gallery & studio in collaboration with The International Picture House. Over the next month fellow FFF contributor Chris Gray will keep us updated on his latest project, which should be a great insight for anyone thinking of setting up their own studio or gallery.

Their goal is to source, commission or construct everything required from independent traders & craftsman. With updates every couple of days we’ll follow Chris and his colleagues towards the launch of a new creative space.

There are also a couple of workplaces available if you’re on the lookout for one!

Over the last couple of years we have looked to assemble a team of contributors from all over the world. We wanted to tap into local knowledge and unearth excellent work from all corners of the globe. While that model has gone great so far, visitor submissions have always been hugely important to the content of the site.

We received a terrific submission this morning from Randy James, who has collated a list of studio’s from Finland, some of which we’ve never featured, which after five years gets less common.

We’ll post the full list up over the next couple of days, but to start us off, check out Bond Agency.

Nick Greenwood over at Creative Lynx got in touch to tell us about some lovely new identity/brand work they have recently completed for new fine dining restaurant Australasia based in Manchester. Lovely materials and nice details create a lovely suite of print, packaging and signage materials. Particularly like the typographic wine bottles.

A new exhibition brings Facebook status updates out from behind the screen!

If you’re like most of us, you log in to facebook every day, write a status update and then what?

Instead of leaving them on screen, poet and writer Rishi Dastidar has been transcribing his status updates into notebooks for over three years! That’s more than a thousand posts that he’s now recorded and kept.

Why, you may ask?

According to Rishi, “it struck me quite early on in using facebook that status updates were more than that, and actually provided quite a deep glimpse into you and your personality. I was interested in how that might look over an extended period of time, and what that might reveal about someone. And it made sense to start with me. I hope the exhibition inspires people to think a bit more deeply about how they use facebook, and how much of themselves they share.”

Now Rishi and designer Matt Busher, working together as Mandatory Thinking, have now collaborated to bring these status updates out from notebooks and on to the walls of Her House Gallery in Hoxton, London.

Between Friday 30 September and Friday 14 October one thousand status updates will be displayed in the gallery as A5 postcards, or what they are calling ‘portrait postcards’. Visitors are encouraged to take away a portrait for themselves, all of which are catalogued on their site.
