Design Matters with Debbie Millman is a thought-provoking podcast which profiles industry-leading graphic designers, change agents, artists, writers and educators. Its a podcast i’ve recommended before, but listening to Jessica Hische and Michael Arad while ironing the other night it really struck me again how powerful the spoken word is and how fascinating it can be to hear the people who’s work we often see. There’s too many great episodes to recommend any specifically, but if you have time on your hands give some a listen.

In a similar vein to Designspiration & Dropular, new service Pintrest is an excellent searchable resource for collating and sourcing creative imagery and titbits. Acting as a digital pinboard, finds can be separated into various categories (or boards), tidily keeping all your newfound gems in their rightful place. A great resource for creating moodboards. Highly recommended.

No doubt a many of you will be familiar with Dave Egger’s Super Hero Supplies store in NYC and similarly his Pirate Store in San Fransico. Following on from their successes state-side, Egger along with a number of other talent dedicated individuals, encouraged by many well known writers have brought the concept to the UK opening Monster Supply Store late last year in Hoxton Street, London.

Essentially created as a space to educate and inspire children to get lost in their imagination and discover the writing in all forms, the front of the store is stocked with all kinds of monster curios to excite even little ones and allow us older ones to rekindle with our inner child.

Branding and packaging design has been beautifully crafted by We Made This all chocked full of witty bits of copy that will have you leaving the store a little lighter in the pocket but with a gleaming wild smile from the innocence of childhood.

Just don’t make the mistake that we did and turn up during the week as they’re only open Saturday and Sunday 11am—5pm.

We’ve got a treat for you all this morning. An fantastic – free – resource of infographics. The Noun Project’s mission is to share, celebrate, and enhance the world’s visual language. Their goal is to collect and organize all the symbols that form our language into one easy-to-use online library that can be accessed by anyone. All the symbols on their site are completely free to download, and can be used for design projects, architecture presentations, art pieces – just about anything. They think a visual language that can be understood by all cultures and people is a pretty amazing thing.
